Yes you can, they are the same thing with different names (in the US its corn starch, UK corn flour)

Yes, it holds up with the three layers (or 6 if you split them) but any higher or with a tier on top, then I would recommend a dowel.

I can't eat butter or marg', so what's the alternative
For one 8" side and 2.5 " height pan and one 6" side and 2.5" height pan what's the measurements?
As in you have just one of each? 1/3 the recipe in the video for the 8" one. Then for the 6" one you need 75g butter, 100g sugar, 1 egg, 100g flour, 1/2 tbsp corn starch,1 tsp baking powder, 2 tbsp milk, 1 tsp vanilla. :)

Ah! thanks for noticing I missed that on the video. You need 453g/4 sticks/2 cups of butter depending on how you are measuring. Happy baking.

Never just dump dry cornstarch into a hot dish unless you want gross lumps 🙄. Make a slurry of cornstarch and a bit of water, stir smooth and pour in while stirring.

use a wooden spoon, stir it constantly while you add it. If need be, smoosh the clumps and stir.

why do people cook the mixture when it’s gonna go into the oven?
To make sure the apples are all cooked through when the crust is done, and also to cook them down a bit so they don’t shrink so much inside the pie crust when cooking.
